More visitors swarm to Lao Cai province
"The province has initiated a new marketing and advertising campaign and devoted significant resources to in its efforts to boost tourism, said Dr. Tran Huu Son, Director of the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Prices of tourism services have been slashed by as much as 30%, fees to many tourist sites have been cut or eliminated and spiritual tours along the Red River linking Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces have been upgraded, Son said.
Additionally, the province is launching eight new tours on September 8, including a new roadshow in Sa Pa with flower garlands and coloured lanterns and an international marathon on September 20-21.
Improvements to the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway has reduced travel time from Hanoi to Lao Cai by over half, which has tremendously benefited tourism to the province.
Currently, there are ten ongoing investment projects including new hotels, luxury resorts in Lao Cai city and Sa Pa district with investment capital registering in the hundreds billions of dongs.
